A kind of Praying mantis, Hierodula patellifera ("harabiro-kamakiri"), seeking a space for laying eggs. 2004.11.07 [2004.11.05]

A kind of Cyanophyceae, Nostoc commune ("ishi-kurage"), on the moist ground. 2004.11.07 [2004.11.04]

A kind of Water-willow, Anemonopsis macrophylla ("kitsune-no-mago"), in the forest. (about 5mm in flower length.) 2004.10.31 [2004.10.18]

Cowries, washed up on a sandy beach. 2004.08.18 [2004.08.14]
The biggest cowries are about 40mm in shell length.

- Erosaria labrolineata ("nashiji-dakara")
- Palmadusta artuffeli ("chairo-kinuta")

More two cowries, Erosaria caputserpentis (left: "hanamaruyuki"), Erosaria annulus (right: "hanabira-dakara").

A small white-purple flower, Anemonopsis macrophylla ("renge-shouma"), in the forest. (about 25mm in flower diameter) 2004.07.20 [2004.07.18]

Eye of a sea snail, Strombus luhuanus ("magaki-gai"). 2004.07.16 [2004.07.11]
Magaki-gai lives in rocky shore (about 45mm in shell length).

Hydrozoan polyp, Capitata ? (a kind of "umi-hidora") (about 2-3mm in length of tentacle rigion). 2004.03.30 [2004.03.28]
They look like algae at a distance...

Egg capsules of a snail, Mitrella bicincta ("mugi-gai") (about 2mm in diameter). 2004.03.27 [2004.03.20]
Mugigai is common species on Japanese in rocky shore (about 10-15mm in shell length).

A pair of otolith of scorpionfish, Sebastiscus marmoratus ("kasago") (about 8mm in length). 2004.03.18 [2004.03.17]

And black rock fish's, Sebastes inermis ("mebaru") (about 9mm in length). 2004.03.27 [2004.03.27]
Body length of the fishes is about 17-18cm and they seems to be about five/four years old...
